A perfect base layer

"This long sleeve merino is perfect for cool, cold or rainy weather under a fleece or shell or light rain jacket so you don’t get sticky. Also good open in warmer weather when sun protection and wicking desired. And wont melt to you if hit with IED. Though I haven’t tried this out yet. A tighter weave than I have experienced in other merino wool base layers. Less prone to contact wear and holing I think. I easily washed in sink and dried quickly."

Can't spray it with permethrin, poor durability

"Several things first I'm 6' 175 lbs fairly in shape dude and had to go all the way down to a small to get one that wasnt baggy on me. Secondly apparently you can't spray these with permethrin, I did and it unravels the fabric on the surface and made it look weird, emailed Kuiu about it and their response was basically "well yeah you shouldn't have done that" so in my opinion this shirt is only useful as a sleeping shirt. Thirdly I've only used it with a pack several times and it's already worn holes in it, I know merino is a more delicate fabric but I expect a blend from a brand like Kuiu that costs $100 to last longer than that."

Merino comfort

"I love these shirts. I have both the hooded and without hood shirts and I wear them almost everyday as a layer up for chilly mornings, evenings, and rooms. They are light enough to wear in room temp and also add warmth in cooler times. Very comfy."

Nice Shirts

"Very nice shirt. 4 out of 5 stars only because I noticed two small holes in the shirt on the first day."

Go to base layer

"I own several Ultra Merino 120 SS and LS. I wear year around as an everyday shirt, in the fall as a base layer for upland hunting and in the winter as a base layer for skiing. This is an excellent product."

John Z. (5/5)
